They don't give classes

To my gentlemen friends, they don't give classes for stuff like chivalry. It is, as a friend said recently, on life support.  If you don't raise your son to be a gentleman, no one else will.  If you have a child, God has blessed you with an enormous responsibility.  If you have a boy, you have one of the highest callings.

If your dad didn't teach you to be a gentleman, it is not too late to learn.  I am mostly speaking to the choir here because most of the young men I know, yes we are still young, have behaved like perfect gentlemen in the past... and present.  If you see someone who doesn't behave like a gentleman, and you think you can get away with it without a good decking, call him out on it.  How else will he learn? But most importantly, raise your son the way your father raised you...again speaking to the choir.

If you are a leader in your church, and you work with young people, it would be a good class to offer on how to treat women and the elderly. Maybe the guys in your group are learning this stuff at home, but maybe they don't know why to do it.

Men should love their wives like Christ loves his church. It took me 35 years to figure out what that means.  Think of the phrase What Would Jesus Do.  Jesus would love his wife with respect, dignity, honesty, protecting her, but not shielding her. He would be patient..all the things said of LOVE in Corinthians 13.  When the husband treats the wife in such a way, the wife responds to that.  The wife, if her heart is also in the right place, will give that back to the husband. The children will see that love and share it also. Peace in the Valley.

Many of you who read this have sons or you have youth groups or you have men who work under your command...lead them. Lead them with the love of Christ, just as you lead your family with HIS love.  They don't give classes on this stuff, and maybe they should.

In the meanwhile, please pray for me. My husband is in desparate need of this class, and right now the best that I can do is to pray for him and teach my daughters to pray for him as well. Until he knows the love of Christ, he will never be this leader that we need. To hear him talk, he doesn't wish for that, so our prayer is that God will provide us with our needs.
