So much to do and be thankful for

Dedicated Louie Louie video to Big Daddy
In the days since my last blog, my dad's health has declined. As ambulatory and cognizant as he is, you wouldn't guess that he would be calling in hospice or going home from a hospital to be kept comfortable in his final days.  His last doctor's visit used the words "terminal" and "months to live". Daddy says it is more like 2 months.

Christmas is a favorite time in our family.  I have always loved Christmas. My daddy has always loved Christmas. Some of my favorite Christmas memories have him in them.  I am sincerely praying that the Lord will spare him one more Christmas this year. I can not bear to lose him during Christmas...and that is selfish of me, I know.

This weekend Meghan became sick.  I had to go get her from school on Saturday. By Monday she was diagnosed with walking pneumonia.  This is an extremely busy time for me at work, but when the doctor said, " you both have to be quarantined for the next 48 hours", work suddenly doesn't matter as much.  I am missing important things at work, but I will be back before the biggest part of it picks up, and God willing, with my whole family well. JJ is already acting sickly. My prayer is that Erin does not come down with it before Friday, so that she does not miss any school.

Erin has been such a good caretaker. She has gotten all of her homework done this week while also cooking the meals and making sure the chores get done. This morning on her way to the bus, she took the trash. She even took Meghan's turn on the litter box on Monday.

Keeping up with school work
Meghan has been a tremendous champ through the whole thing. I thought she would not like staying cooped up in this bedroom, but she has made the best of it. We have shared the remote and bowls of popcorn and 20 card math bingo. We worked for several hours today on her math homework, and she never got upset once.  She was so funny when she took her cough medicine earlier stating that it made her "feel like crap."  And it did. We both were worthless all day yesterday.  Today we both seem to be in better spirits, and we are not having to take that blasted cough medicine.

Our sleep patterns are messed up a bit due to the extra hours of sleep we got this morning, but Meghan said it was the "best sleep she ever had."    I gave her the ADHD medication late today, so we are up late tonight.  Hopefully, we can get some exercise tomorrow and get back on a better sleep schedule.

Making the most out of sickness
I feel like I am needed in so many places, but I am learning to take one demand at a time. Right now my dad needs me, but I can't be any good to him if I am sick or get him sicker. My daughter needs me, and I feel as if my husband will need me soon.   My work needs me, and I will be there for them in the busiest time.  God gives me strength each week to accomplish what he sets before me that day, and that is what I work on . I do not worry for the future. I do not regret the past.  I live in today, and that is difficult enough to do.
