The Honeymooners

Finally, we made it to our honeymoon!  We chose this time of year because we were engaged on September 28. It worked out better logistically for JJ's work to vacation when the work slowed down. The condo we chose is the perfect size for the two of us: a full kitchen, a king size bed, a small washer and dryer. The living room is cozy, and the bathroom is not too small. Our first order of business is to purchase some Debbie Cakes, pot pies, rice and tea for meals at home. We brought with us some cereal and other kitchen essentials, like coffee and creamer from home, so we can have all the creature comforts.

On date night, I got all dolled up for a trip to our favorite Irish Pub, McGuire's.  We chose Saturday night because we wanted the full atmosphere. McGuire's did not disappoint! We had drinks and steak and sang with the balladeer. The kids sent us a treasure hunt list of things to bring back from the beach, and our search started here.

Lounging around on Sunday morning, JJ looked over at me and smiled and said, "happy anniversary."  Although we are only celebrating our engagement date at this time, it is a special time for both of us. It was at this moment on Mt. Cheaha that we pledged to be together for the next 50 years. We spent the day with a walk on the beach, a round of golf, and a quiet dinner in watching Sunday Night Football.

The rest of our vacation was spent being tourists. We took a Dolphin Cruise at sunset and enjoyed watching the dolphins play in front of our boat. We toured Thunder Beach in Panama City a couple of days enjoying the vendors and the bikes and the music.

Being away from the Black Ops team and not having distractions of drama at home made our trip worth the money and time we spent. Knowing that our kids were being cared for at home by my mom gave us the peace of mind to be gone the entire week. We didn't give work a second thought.

The beauty of our trip was that it brought us closer together, as it should have. Our biggest test would come in the following weeks.
