So, we all know what a pistol ball my 6 year-old can be. She will tell you like it is in a heart beat. She can contort her body into a pretzel. She can balance perfectly while walking on the back of the couch. Not allowed, but I catch her at it from time to time. She will be the first there to put the band-aid on when you are sick. Whenever Ginny is in the hospital, she is the first to state emphatically that we need to go make her feel better. At the big-girl dentist the other day, she made a quick point to tell the hygentist that she didn't write her "r" correctly and then proceded to show her how to do it...a great thing to me because I was thinking she might be dysgraphic.
She has had some conduct problems at school. She has brought home every color of the clothespin rainbow. I have met with the teacher, the counselor, my mom, parenting classes. I am trying it all. All sorts of terms have been tossed in: attention deficit with hyper activity, autism, dysgraphia, gifted. ???????? You can imagine my confusion.
Meghan can break out into song at any moment. Sometimes she makes them up, sometimes they are from cartoons or movies. She is dramatic, melodramatic, comical, precious, mean, sneaky, messy. Neat is not in her vocabulary, but she likes things organized. She won't play in her room unless it is clean, but once it gets messy, she can't put it back together without three special steps...anyone see Special Agent Oso? (Did anyone know that Special Agent Oso is Sean Astin??)
She will come home from school and tell stories of a kid that picks on her, then she gets in trouble for getting back at him. She never does anything wrong, but the teacher gets onto her for talking and the other kids blame it on her.
One day there was absolute drama about going to school. She kicked and screamed and fought to not have to go. When I took her to see the prinicpal, Meghan explained that kids were picking on her in gym and the teachers were not noticing. The kicks were picking on her because of her new shoes. The staff was called in, made aware of the problem, everything was set into motion to catch the guilty party. By 11am the principal had called me. There was indeed was a problem. Meghan attacked the kid in question. Dove right on top of him. WHY????? She wanted to show him her new shoes!!!!!
Needless to say, children can still receive a paddling in school. YEAA!!!!!! I made sure I was there to witness it, but it was possible. One of those good paddles like they have in the fraternity houses...not quite as big or thick, but made the same. Too bad it didn't have holes in it like Mr. Ingram's used to. LOL!!!
A pistol ball!!!
